Dual Knowledge
Adi Sankara and other great Sages wrote several works like the commentary on the Vedanta Sutras and thus furnished the methods for those engaged in Self-enquiry to accomplish their purpose. From these, Sri Karapatra Swami later condensed the salient points into Sanskrit verse in a work of twelve chapters, called Sri Advaita Bodha Deepika. In this work the author has explained how Ignorance obscures the true nature of the Self which is non-dual only; how by its veiling aspect it covers It (the Self) with two effects - 'that It does not exist' and 'that It does not shine forth', how by its other aspect, in the shape of the mind, it projects individuals, Iswara and the work, presenting them as real; thus giving rise to illusion. How one fully qualified is alone fit to obtain this knowledge; how a bare scholar of the sastras cannot be fit; how enquiry is the chief means for knowledge; and how by the eventual unobstructed realisation of BRAHMAN (God), the Seeker becomes free from the bondage of the three kinds of Karma which form the cycle of births and deaths; how in truth there is neither bondage nor release for the SELF and in what way to extinguish the mind.

Beyond The Blues
When Aakash Chopra started to write his diary in September 2007, he had no idea that it was going to be an extraordinary year, both for him personally, and for the game of cricket. It began with a great run in the Ranji, culminating in Delhi's victory. Delhi also went on to become North Zone champions, the North Zone won the Duleep Trophy, and in almost every game, Aakash was among the runs. He ended the season with 1339 runs from fifteen games, with five centuries that included three double centuries. Then came the IPL, with its glamorous tie-in with Bollywood. And Aakash found himself on the most talked about side of them all: the Kolkata Knight Riders.A view from within of all that made 2007 such an exciting year for cricketers and cricket lovers, this fast-paced and often tongue-in-cheek account takes us behind the scenes with an honesty and forthrightness uncommon to Indian sport.

Enslaved
Slavery does not belong to the past. It lives and breathes in our midst and Rahila Gupta's powerful expose opens a window on this secret world. This is one of the most shocking books you will read about contemporary Britain; that human beings should be treated with such degradation and cruelty us a disgrace we should find unbearable. I hope the author's passion ignites a new anti-slavery campaign. Sign me up. ' - Helena Kennedy In this compelling and persuasive book that examines the complex subject of immigration, and its connection to modern-day slavery, Rahila Gupta seeks out five former slaves who had been trafficked, smuggled or duped into the UK, and helps them to tell us their stories. We meet a pregnant child from Sierra Leone who was locked up in a London house as a domestic slave ; a Russian teenager trafficked into prostitution; a chinese man, living in fear of the triads; a religious Somali woman who had to promise sex in order to eat; and a young Punjabi woman forced into marriage and repeatedly abused by her husband. Living in fear of being sent back to conditions of war, persecution, sexual oppression or grinding poverty, these hapless immigrants come to the UK only to find that their passports are in the hands of their oppressors and that the world of freedom and equal opportunity they have escaped to is, in fact, a deadly trap.

Darkness Falls
Darkness Falls is a model of what the modern suspense thriller should be - tense, scary, page-turning and stomach-churning - because we care most of all about what happens to the characters. Set aside a day -- you won't be able to put it down once it has you in its grip.' - Val McDermid on DARKNESS FALLS 'Debut crime novels that can be praised unreservedly are rare. Murphy creates terrific menace and tension, well-climaxed.' - Marcel Berlins, The Times on GOODNIGHT, MY ANGEL 'Sets new standards in the psychological thriller...It's hard to believe something this assured is a first novel. A remarkable debut - threatening, thrilling and thoroughly authentic.' - Val McDermid on GOODNIGHT, MY ANGEL Yesterday Clara Pascal, successful barrister, was prosecuting a top drugs baron in a trial that filled the newspapers. Now she lies in a cellar, chained to the wall and unable to communicate with anyone. Her kidnapper won't even tell her why she is being held hostage. Meanwhile the machinery of the state is set in action to search for Clara, with Detective Inspector Steve Lawson in control. Using the literary device of mixing the mentality of the killer with that of Clara's abductor, Murphy succeeds in heightening the tension to almost unbearable levels. From the beginning her writing succeeds in depicting the despair a victim can feel, and the contrast between Clara's horrifying suffering and the police procedural of the investigation is highly effective. Truly unputdownable. (Kirkus UK)A Crown Prosecutor descends into hell, as does the family awaiting her return. Dropped off at the schoolyard early by a mum in a great hurry to get to court and start her day prosecuting minor felons before devoting time to the Crown's case against drug czar Ray Casavettes, young Pippa becomes the sole witness to something unimaginable: the abduction of her mum Clara by a man wearing a red ski mask and a blue anorak and driving a white van. Five days later, Pippa is still in shock, her dad Hugo is near breaking point, and Clara is terrorized, near starvation, half-mad, and chained to a cellar wall by a man who seems to loathe her. Will the police find her before she becomes a fatality? Unfortunately, the ghoul they suspect is not the right ghoul, although he has a record of raping and destroying young girls and has crossed paths with Clara in court. Casavettes offers help in finding Clara in exchange for bail, but DI Steve Lawson and his superiors resist until routine detective work puts them, Casavettes and his thugs, and Clara's tormentor on a collision path that ends with death, pain, and the anguish of second-guessing. Alternating segments of dogged police work, despite the personality conflicts at the Diva Street Station, with the excruciating degradation of Clara, Murphy (Goodnight My Angel, not reviewed, etc.) turns personal responsibility into an unassailable rallying cry

Tiger Force
For seven months in 1967 the soldiers of Tiger Force lost control in a frenzy of torture, mutilation and cold-blooded murder. Stories started to leak back of women and children blown to pieces; of innocent civilians being routinely executed; of beheaded children and necklaces made from the severed ears of the dead. Afterwards no-one would talk about what happened, and the official investigation was swiftly curtailed. The actions of Tiger Force in the Vietnam war have never been made public; some have even alleged they were subject to a government cover-up. The experimental unit of elite soldiers found itself in a brutal and baffling war where there were no rules, and their reaction was catastrophic. TIGER FORCE is the previously unheard account of the true actions of these doomed men, and the consequences of this dark chapter in recent history. For the very first time, Pulitzer-prize winning authors Michael Sallah and Mitchell Weiss reveal the awful truth behind the American military's wall of silence
