ज्योतिषशास्त्र या विषयावर अनेक प्रकारचे भरपूर लिखाण उपलब्ध आहे; परंतु आश्चर्य म्हणजे या शास्त्राचा परिपूर्ण व शास्त्रशुद्ध असा शब्दकोश मात्र निघालेला नव्हता. या शास्त्राची परिभाषा, त्यातील शब्दांचे शास्त्रीय अर्थ हे लोकांपुढे आणण्याचा कोणीही प्रयत्न केलेला नव्हता. म्हणूनच ज्योतिषशास्त्राचा एखादा समृद्ध असा शब्दकोश असावा, या विचाराने शोभा प्रभु यांनी सुमारे साडेचार हजार शब्दांच्या समाविष्टांसह या ज्योतिष शब्दग्रंथाची निर्मिती केली आहे. या शब्दग्रंथाची पहिली आवृत्ती २६. फेब्रुवारी २००२ रोजी प्रकाशित झाली. ग्रंथाची उपयुक्तता जाणून ही दुसरी आवृत्ती आता २०२२मध्ये प्रकाशित करीत आहोत. ज्योतिषशास्त्रातील हा एकमेव शब्दग्रंथ वाचकांना नक्की आवडेल आणि उपयुक्त ठरेल, याची खात्री वाटते.
